Bacon Wrapped Scallops

 Bacon wrapped scallops

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon white pepper

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon paprika

1 egg, well beaten

1 cup milk

1 cup dry breadcrumbs

16 slices bacon, partially cooked

32 sea scallops (about a pound) drained

Commercial cocktail sauce


Combine first 5 ingredients in a large shallow dish; stir well, and set aside. 


Combine egg and milk in a small bowl; mix well, and set aside. Place breadcrumbs in a shallow dish; set aside. Cut bacon slices in half. 


Dredge scallops in flour mixture; shake off excess. Dip scallops into egg mixture, and roll in breadcrumbs. Wrap each scallop with ½ slice of bacon, and secure with a wooden pick. Broil 2 minutes; turn scallops, and broil 2 minutes or until done. Serve hot with cocktail sauce, if desired. 


Yield 32 scallop appetizers.
