Biscuits
2 cups flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
⅓ cup shortening
¾ cup milk
In a mixing bowl thoroughly stir together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Add shortening and cut until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Make a well in a dry mixture; and milk all at once. Stir just till dough clings together.
On a lightly floured surface knead dough gently for 10 to 12 strokes. Pat or roll dough to ½ inch thickness. Cut with 2 ½ inch biscuit cutter, dipping cutter flour between cuts. Transfer cut biscuits to an ungreased baking sheet. Bake in a 450 degree oven for 10 to 12 minutes or till golden brown. Serve immediately.
Makes 10 biscuits
NOTE:
You can this recipe leaving out the milk and store in an airtight container for future use.
