1 cup butter


1 (16 ounce) package brown sugar


Dash salt


1 cup light corn syrup


1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk


1 teaspoon vanilla



Butter a 9 X 9 X 2 inch pan; set aside. Melt the 1 cup butter in a heavy 3 quart saucepan. Add sugar and salt; stir thoroughly. Stir in corn syrup. Gradually add the sweetened condensed milk, stirring constantly. Clip candy thermometer to side of pan. Cook and stir over medium heat to 245 degrees. This will take 12 to 15 minutes. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla. Pour into a buttered pan. When cooled, cut into squares. Wap pieces individually in clear plastic wrap.



Makes about 2 ½ pounds
