 Indian fried bread

2 cups flour

1 ½ teaspoon salt

2 teaspoons baking powder

1 tablespoon powdered milk

1 cup water

  1. Mix dry ingredients well and add water, enough to make the dough soft. Let stand for 15 to 20 minutes before frying in hot grease. You can make bread in the shape of a pancake or doughnut. Be sure to make a hole in the middle of each piece so that the bread can be turned. Eat with honey, soup or chill.

  1. Combine 2 cups of unsifted flour, 4 teaspoons baking powder, and 1 teaspoon salt. Add ⅔ cup water, (or more) to make dough the consistency of bread. Tear off balls of dough and roll out on board lightly; dust with cornmeal or flour until it is ¼ inch thick. Punch holes in the center of each piece. Fly one at a time in hot grease (400 degrees) about 2 to 3 inches deep oil. Drain on absorbent paper, and serve hot.
