Red Devil's Food Cake

Red devil’s food cake
½ cup shortening
1¼ cup sugar
2 eggs unbeaten
1 cup boiling water
½ cup cocoa
1¾ cup cake flour or 1½ cup all-purpose sifted
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
Cream shortening and sugar; add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Then add ingredients as called for and, after adding them all without stirring, beat vigorously until smooth. Turn into 2 greased and floured 8 inch layer pans. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 30-35 minutes or until done.
