Spicy Pumpkin Cake

Spicy pumpkin cake
½ cup packed brown sugar
½ cup butter
2 eggs
¾ cup buttermilk
½ cup pumpkin
½ cup light molasses
2½ cups flour
2 teaspoon finely shredded orange peel
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
Sifted powdered sugar
Grease and lightly flour a 13x9x2 inch baking dish. In a mixer bowl cream together brown sugar and butter till light. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Combine buttermilk, pumpkin, and molasses. Thoroughly stir together flour, orange peel, soda, salt, and spices. Add dry ingredients to the creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk mixture, beating after each addition. Turn into a prepared pan. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 30 to 35 minutes or till a wooden pick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool thoroughly on a wire rack. Sprinkle it with powdered sugar. Makes 12 servings
